Question posted 1 day ago:

Why am I gaining weight?

I am trying to lose weight over the summer, and am so far down 7.
This week I have been working particularly hard. I only take about 1200 calories/day and I do an intense work out for an hour.
However, I still gained half a pound!

It is so frustrating because I worked so hard this week.

Usually after I drink water, my weight goes up about a pound on the scale, but then goes back down. This week, it wouldn't at all. What gives?

This obsession with the weighing machine will get even more frustrating if you don't get your mindset changed.

What is it you actually want? You want to lose weight, or is it you really desire a slim toned and fit body?

If your target is purely to lose weight, then the only infallible method is to eat less than what your body requires to function.
So if your body needs 1800 calories a day, and lets say you eat 1500, you will lose weight.

But if you workout at the same time, you build muscle, see? And muscle weighs 5 times more than fat. So as fat shrinks to make way for muscle mass, your weight will remain constant or even go up, depending on your intake and workout strategies.
Calories coming from wholesome natural fresh foods are your best options.Meals should be balanced with more emphasis on proteins, fruits, veg and less carbs

Weighing yourself after a workout doesnt tell you anything, apart from the loss in weight due to intense sweating. That's why you weigh more after you drink.

To recap, do you want to lose weight the anorexic way, or you want to look fit/trim/strong/6 packs with correct nutrition and workouts ?

Listen to all the modern fitness experts out there, they actually tell you to not pay any heed to the scales. use the tape measure, and take photos to chart your progress.

At the end of the day, looking good is not how much you weigh, but how well sculpted your body is, am I correct or not?
